Aman Tokyo is an 84-suite hotel on the top floors of Otemachi Tower, in the Otemachi business district between Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace gardens. It suits couples who want a large, quiet suite for three or four nights at the start or end of a trip, a 2,500 m² spa that the hotel describes as the largest in Tokyo, and a direct link to the subway. Breakfast is included in every stay.

## Who it suits

Aman Tokyo is above all a hotel for couples: honeymoons, anniversaries, or a return to Japan after a first trip. The smallest suites already measure 71 m², and all have a furo, the deep Japanese tub in which you sit with the water up to your shoulders. The pages we read publish no children's policy: for a family, we check the sleeping arrangements with the hotel before booking.

It is also the most expensive of our Tokyo hotels: in our check for April 2027, the Tokyo Suite cost more than five times the cheapest room at The Okura Tokyo, breakfast included in both cases.

## Choosing a suite

The table below sets out the six categories. The choice comes down mainly to which way the suite faces:

- **West**: the Deluxe Suite and the Garden View Suite, both 71 m², look over the Imperial Palace gardens, the Shinjuku towers and, on clear days, Mount Fuji. The Garden View Suite is on the top floor.
- **East**: the 77 m² Tokyo Suite faces sunrise over the city, with a larger bathroom and a more generous entrance.
- **The Signature Suites**, from 121 to 157 m², add a separate living room. The Aman Suite, on the north-west corner, combines views of Shinjuku, the palace and Mount Fuji with a table for six and a small wine cellar: the suite for a private dinner or a big occasion.

Suites have a sunken lounge with a daybed, shoji screens (sliding panels of paper on a wooden frame) and complimentary soft drinks.

## Spa and pool

Aman Spa covers 2,500 m² on two floors. It has onsen-style hot baths (Japanese hot-water bathing, here with no declared hot-spring source), a traditional Japanese bath, steam rooms, eight treatment rooms, each with its own dressing room, steam shower and relaxation area, and a 30 m heated indoor pool facing the city. Every treatment begins with misogi, a Shinto purification ritual, preceded by about an hour in the bathing areas. The signature treatment pairs a scrub of camphor, kuromoji (a fragrant Japanese shrub) and Japanese clay with a 90-minute massage blending shiatsu and Western techniques.

The facilities open from 6.30 am to 10 pm and treatments run from 10 am to 10 pm, local time; the gym is open 24 hours, with yoga and Pilates studios.

For a true hot-spring bath, two other places in our selection fit the bill: [Hoshinoya Tokyo](/en/hotels/hoshinoya-tokyo/), a few streets away, draws its water from 1,500 m underground, and [Hakone](/en/japan/hakone/) is about 80 minutes from Shinjuku.

## Dining

- **Arva**: Italian cooking rooted in southern Italy, by Venice-trained chef Masakazu Hiraki.
- **Musashi by Aman**: an omakase sushi counter (the menu is left to the chef) in the Edomae tradition of old Edo, at a hinoki (Japanese cypress) counter run by chef Hiroyuki Musashi.
- **The Lounge by Aman**: bar and all-day dining, with cocktails and seasonal afternoon teas.
- **The Café by Aman**: champagne, teas and pastries at the foot of the tower, in the Otemachi woodland garden.
- **La Pâtisserie**: house-made breads and cakes, on the second basement floor of the tower.

We book the Musashi counter at the same time as the suite.

## Location and what to do nearby

The hotel is at 1-5-6 Otemachi, in Chiyoda ward. The tower connects to Otemachi subway station, served by five lines, and Tokyo Station, where shinkansen (bullet trains) leave for Odawara for Hakone, for Kyoto and for Kanazawa, is a few minutes away. Allow about 40 minutes by road from Haneda Airport and 60 minutes from Narita.

On foot, you reach the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, laid out on the old enclosures of Edo Castle, free to enter and closed on Mondays and Fridays. The five lines at Otemachi put the rest of the city within easy reach: our [Tokyo](/en/japan/tokyo/) page covers the sights, from Asakusa and Senso-ji temple to the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno and Meiji Jingu Shrine.

## How it compares in Tokyo

Our selection has four hotels in Tokyo. Aman Tokyo is the only one where every room is a suite of at least 71 m², and it has the largest spa of the four. [Hoshinoya Tokyo](/en/hotels/hoshinoya-tokyo/), in the same district, is a ryokan (Japanese inn) with smaller rooms and a real hot spring. [Park Hyatt Tokyo](/en/hotels/park-hyatt-tokyo/) is in Shinjuku, to the west, further from Tokyo Station. [The Okura Tokyo](/en/hotels/the-okura-tokyo/), in Toranomon, has an art museum and the lowest entry price of the four.

In our eleven-day honeymoon itinerary, [Japan honeymoon](/en/ideas/japan-honeymoon-11-days/), Aman Tokyo can replace the Tokyo hotel we suggest.
