Accessibility

Where umika-travel.com stands on accessibility, what is already in place, its known limits and how to report them.

Goal and status

Umika aims for level AA of WCAG 2.1 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, the international web accessibility rules) across the website.

The website has not been audited yet, so its level of conformance has not been established.

What is already in place

  • Pages can be read without JavaScript; the script is used for the country choice, the search and sending forms without leaving the page.
  • The language of each page is declared, and each page has its version in the other published languages.
  • Pages are structured with hierarchical headings and a breadcrumb trail.
  • The “Ask a question” window opens and closes with the keyboard (Escape closes it); the cursor moves to the question field when it opens.
  • Each photo has alternative text, its caption, and its credit is written as text.
  • Contrast between text and background exceeds 4.5:1 for body text, secondary text and links (measured on the stylesheet colours).

Known limits

  • No audit and no screen reader testing yet.
  • The grey text of empty photo placeholders, on a sand background, has a contrast of 4.4:1, just below the threshold.
  • There is no skip link to the main content at the top of the page.
