Umika ♥ My selection

Privacy policy

The data umika-travel.com collects through its forms, the data its technical providers process, and your rights.

In short

The website only stores what you send through its three forms (the trip request, the question sent with the “Ask a question” button and the newsletter sign-up) and the words typed in its search when they return no results. It measures its traffic without cookies and shows no advertising. If you use the welcome agent behind the “Ask a question” button, the website also keeps your conversation with it.

This data is stored in a database hosted by Cloudflare. Only the publisher of the website has access to it. It is neither sold nor passed on to partners.

For a trip request or a question, an acknowledgement is sent to you by email, and the publisher receives a copy. These emails go through Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, Paris), a French email delivery service, which processes your address and the content of the message to deliver them.

When you sign up, an email asks you to confirm your address: without confirmation, you receive nothing. This email also contains an unsubscribe link. The newsletter has not started yet; each issue will include the same link, and you can also ask to be unsubscribed at contact@umika-travel.com.

Controller

The controller is the publisher of the website, an individual (see the legal notice). Contact: contact@umika-travel.com

What stays on your device

When you choose your country, the website keeps that choice in your browser (local storage, key umika-pays) to show the right currency and entry requirements. This choice is never sent anywhere. Likewise, the hotels and trip ideas you put in “My selection” stay in your browser (key umika-favoris); they are only sent if you attach them to a trip request. The hotels whose page you read are kept in the same way (key umika-consultes, 20 at most, 30 days), so you can find them under “Recently viewed hotels” in “My selection”; they are only sent if you tick the box that attaches them to a request. You can clear this history or turn it off from that page (key umika-consultes-non). During your visit, the browser also keeps the list of searches with no results already sent (key umika-recherches-notees), so the same one is not sent twice; it is erased when you close the tab. You can erase it by deleting the site's data in your browser.

What technical providers process

Hosting. Like any web server, Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts the website, receives your IP address, your browser type and the page requested, in order to deliver the page and protect the site. Cloudflare is based in the United States. Its practices are described in its privacy policy.

Welcome agent. The agent's replies are written by an AI model (Mistral Small) run by Cloudflare Workers AI. Cloudflare states that it does not use these exchanges to train AI models and does not keep them beyond processing each message (Workers AI terms). On the first message, Turnstile, Cloudflare's anti-robot check, examines technical signals (IP address, connection fingerprint, browser type) to keep robots out; Cloudflare states that it does not use them to identify or profile people (Turnstile policy).

Audience measurement. On each page view, a Cloudflare Web Analytics script sends Cloudflare the page address, your browser type and version, and the loading time; Cloudflare also receives your IP address, as for any page. The publisher only sees totals, with no way of identifying a visitor. No cookie is set (see the cookies page).

Photos. Photos come from Wikimedia Commons and Flickr, but they are copied and served by the website itself: your browser contacts neither Wikimedia nor Flickr.

Social media. If you accept, or if you click "Show the post", your browser loads posts from Instagram (Meta) or YouTube (Google), which then receive your IP address and may set cookies (see the cookies page).

Your rights

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation, a European regulation) gives you the right to access, rectify, erase, object to, restrict and port your data. To exercise these rights, write to contact@umika-travel.com.

You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country: Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
